Between 5.30 and 9pm on Saturday, January 25, two boys have allegedly entered a Dutton Street business, located and removed four sets of vehicle keys.
It is further alleged the boys then used these keys to unlock and enter a vehicle, however were unable to operate the push start function of the vehicle.
The boys have allegedly used another set of keys to enter and drive off in a different vehicle, before parking it on Matilda Street and walking off.
Police will allege a total of five boys returned to the vehicle about 9pm and began to drive erratically around the town, travelling at speeds of 90-140km/h on wet roads before driving repeatedly at staged police vehicles.
The boys allegedly repeatedly drove on the opposite side of the road and came close to colliding with large crowds of witnesses.
This alleged dangerous behaviour continued until 1.15am, when the vehicle came to a stop in the middle of Matilda Street and all occupants reportedly fled the vehicle.
The two police crews were hindered by an agitated group of community members, who were reportedly attempting to assault two of the boys.
