It's not quite a return to the Foley Shield, but the outback clash is designed as an opportunity for the best players of the north west to play against each other and possibly expose themselves for potential pathways.
Mount Isa head coach John Doyle said he is looking forward to the trip away.
"The match will be good for us no matter what because we will be able to see what level they are at and what level we are at," Doyle said.
"Once we have done that we will be able to make adjustments to our game and our training intensity.
"It's all about giving these guys a chance to have a crack and receive some exposure they would not have previously received."
Doyle said he has heard a few things about their opponent.
"We don't know much about their players and all we have heard is rumours. But the rumours are saying they are all like Semi Radradra from full back all the way up into the front row," Doyle said.
"Our manager Sean Wade has some good links with Atherton so hopefully we can make this an annual thing, there's talks about naming it the Katter cup."
The next representative game for the Mount Isa representative side will be at the Queensland Outback Carnival which will most likely take place in June.
