Senator McDonald was diagnosed as COVID-19 positive on Friday after meeting Flinders Shire officials.
Flinders Shire CEO Daryl Buckingham said those who did not attend the meeting including mayor Jane McNamara and most of the Flinders Shire councillors are out of precautionary quarantine.
However those who attended the meeting - Mr Buckingham and councillors Bill Bode and Clancy Middleton - will remain in quarantine until the test results are returned from Queensland Health.
Longreach Mayor Ed Warren is also self-isolating after meeting Senator McDonald on Friday.

Senator McDonald said she had mild symptoms and was feeling well.
"I encourage everyone to continue observing normal personal hygiene such as washing hands thoroughly and often, keeping 1.5m distance, covering coughs and sneezes, and disposing of tissues quickly,' she said.
"I also want to confirm that I did not attend the Cowboys-Broncos game on Friday night, nor any other events over the weekend and remained in home isolation until the test results came back, after which I was admitted to hospital.
"I have not had contact with Minister Peter Dutton.
"Where I contracted the virus remains unclear."
