Council said Monday the decision was made after continued restrictions being put in place by the Australian Government.
"The decision has been made in the best interests of the Mount Isa community, and in light of further COVID-19 restrictions brought in by State and Federal governments and today's cancellation of the 2020 Mount Isa Mines Isa Rodeo," Council said in a statement.
"The Isa Street Festival is a much-loved Rodeo Week event and is Council's way of supporting and being a part of the Isa Rodeo each year.
"While we are devastated at the cancellation, the Isa Street Festival will be back next year, bigger and better than ever.'

The cancellation immediately follows today's decision to cancel the Mount Isa Mines Rodeo for the first time in its 61 year history.
Isa Rodeo CEO Natalie Flecker said the Isa Rodeo Limited Board's decision was made following the 18 March, 2020 declaration of a Human Biosecurity Emergency and it follows the cancellation of the Curry Merry Muster the weekend before the Isa Rodeo.
"While this is disappointing, the safety of our competitors, community, patrons, rodeo team, sponsors, volunteers and stock is our most important consideration and we are not prepared to hold the 2020 Rodeo event while the current pandemic continues to pose a human biosecurity emergency," Ms Flecker said.
