Many big chains such as Myer are closing and the latest retailer to shut its doors is Prouds the Jewellers as of tomorrow nationwide, including Mount Isa.
Mount Isa Prouds the Jewellers store manager Rochelle Perera said sales had been in decline.
"We started witnessing a dip in sales, I had a sense this was going to happen with many other retailers already closed in the Mount Isa Village," Ms Perera said.
"Our head office has told us we are one of the last remaining retailers closing tomorrow morning, but aims to be one of the first to open.
"Its just sad as my casual employees have already lost their back up job in hospitality.
Ms Perera said everything inside the store was going to be packed up and taken away.
"We don't know how long this will last but everything is freezed until further notice," she said.
