The site was hanging when the North West Star tried to access it around 10am as thousands of parents and students across the state try to access it.
According to the ABC the Premier said she was looking at the problem.
The state government had mandated home-based learning for the first five weeks of term 2 with the situation after that to be reviewed, however children of essential workers are allowed to attend school.
However Opposition deputy leader Tim Mander said anyone working from home on Monday was an essential worker.
"Those parents have earned the right to send their children to school," Mr Mander said.
"If you want to send your children to school you should be able to do that."
Spinifex State College in Mount Isa had sent out a package to its families containing a parent letter, a Home Based Learning Program, an At Home Learning Guide, a Weekly At Home Learning Schedule (Junior Campus only), Continuity of Learning Protocols, Frequently Asked Questions and a Digital Curriculum Guide for Students.
The school said is was using OneNote to distribute online lessons to all students.
