Raising funds and awareness for Breast Cancer, Women of the West will host a Lets Brunch event at Sedan Dip on October 31st from 9am to 12 noon and everyone is invited.
Women of the West, was established by Edwina Hick and Belinda Murphy in 2018, with the plan to host a women's wellness weekend at Sedan Dip.
However the Monsoon Flood of 2019 postponed any plans, until a few weeks ago when Edwina approached Belinda about rebooting Women of the West and hosting a Breast Cancer brunch.
"If we can raise awareness and some funds for a local breast care group in Mount Isa we will have done something worthwhile," Edwina Hick said.
"This event is not exclusive to only women, as men get breast cancer too, so men are also invited to come along to the event."
Ms Hick said there were 112 tickets available for purchase through TryBooking.com.
"Tickets are $60 each and that includes brunch, a couple bottles of champagne on the tables, tea, coffee, non-alcoholic punch, water and the audience of our guest speakers," she said.
"We have Maree Balmain who was on Carrum Station just south of Julia Creek when she was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of breast cancer just before her second baby was born. She will share her story about going through the whole process, having a double mastectomy and her recovery.
"She is bringing along Shannon Williams who is a McGrath Foundation breast care nurse at Mount Isa Hospital. And former ABC journalist Jayne Cuddihy is coming from Charters Towers to MC."
Ms Hick said there would also be a silent auction with some great prizes on offer.
"Lindy Hick Photography has donated a session, Sheree Pratt from Draft & Co clothing label has donated a clothing pack, Flinders and Mitchell has donated a flower voucher, Laura Crane Creative has donated a painting and we have a photograph also donated by a lady in Tasmania," she said.
"It is going to be a lovely event and we hope it is just the start of more things to come from Women of the West."
