Cloncurry rugby league legend Chris Waters has been honoured at the North Queensland Sports Awards this week.

Mr Waters took out the Small Local Government Association Senior Service to North Queensland Award in awards announced on Friday.
He has been with Cloncurry senior and junior rugby league for over 25 years serving his sport as a coach, trainer, manager & president for over 25 years.
Mr Waters was also instrumental in the Implementation of the Queensland Outback Junior Rugby League Program.
He said the award was an unexpected surprise and he was feeling extremely humbled to receive it.
"My greatest enjoyment is seeing our young rugby league players from the outback area, being able to attend higher level carnival and then being go on and achieve at higher levels," Mr Waters said.
I've never really thought of myself as an actual volunteer because I've always totally enjoyed being involved at all levels of rugby league, and watching players continuing to improve is one of the great rewards."
Mr Waters thanked the North Queensland Sports Foundation, Think Mobility, Cloncurry Shire Council and "the great game of rugby league."
