ABC North West reported that police had been looking for the 32-year-old for several days over offences including burglary and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He was found during the night, but escaped and climbed onto the roof of the Mount Isa Cinema about 3.30am.
A negotiator was brought in and the man came down from the roof about 6.30am and was arrested.
Police say no one was injured.
