The Legends of League was last held in Mount Isa in 2019 when a crowd of 5000 people packed Alec Inch Oval to watch a local legends side take on the Australian All Stars.
Now organiser and player Craig Teevan hopes this year will be just as successful.
"There's a few different players we'll bring along that weren't here last time and a few different players in the local league side but the format hasn't changed," Teevan said.
"We've just come off a great event in Blackwater and we're looking forward to another one here in Mount Isa on May 29."
Teevan said they were finalising confirmation of line ups but some familiar faces from the 2019 event would be back to play.
"Robbie Katter is going to lace the boots up for the local side, Cr Mick Tully also," he said.
"And for the Australian side Ben Hannant,is coming back, and Noel Goldthorpe and Matty Bowen , Darren Smith is new this year, Dave Shillington. so we've got a whole host of big name players."
Teevan said they were looking for corporate support in Mount Isa.
"For those we have a bowls days with the players and a dinner with both teams and game tickets," he said.
Council has come on board as a presenting sponsor of the competition with plans also have Under-9s' and women's games, with members of the Under-9s team to lead players to the field for the main game.
Australian team members will also have a lawn bowls day and dinner on the Friday night, and visit local schools.
Mayor Danielle Slade said the competition was seeking corporate sponsorship and she urged interested businesses to get in touch with competition organiser Craig Teevan on 0412 627 497.
"The 2019 International Legends of League was extremely well-received by the community, and these popular former league players were a big hit with locals when they were in town," Cr Slade said.
It would be fantastic for this year's competition to be just as successful and for local businesses to come on board and support it," Cr Slade said.
