One of the most popular events of the year, Mount Isa Race Club is expecting between 800 to 1000 racegoers on Saturday March 13.
Mount Isa Race Club president Mick Tully said it was a great opportunity for locals to socialise.
"After a quiet January and February people are busting for something to do after Christmas break, especially after the effects of COVID-19 last year we are expecting more people to attend," Mr Tully said.
"This weekend we have a five race meeting, with gates opening at 11am and first race between 1.30pm-2pm."
In 2020, St Patrick's Day Races was the last event held in Mount Isa before the COVID-19 lockdown.
"We were fortunate enough that we could host the event last year, before everything closed," Mr Tully said.
"One year on since lockdown and we have been reasonably lucky. Working with Racing Queensland we were allowed to have racing without any crowds and Mount Isa really became the centre of racing for the North West.
"It was a tough year but we also used that time to complete a lot of renovations at the club, which people will see on the weekend."
Tully said there was a number of events happening on and off the track this weekend.
"This is one of the biggest race meetings for Fashions on the Field, with some great prizes to be won so dress in your best green outfit," he said.
"We will also have entertainment after the races and open bar until 10pm."
Mr Tully said table booking for the event had sold out, but standard gate entry was available for $20.
"There are a few tables not assigned that will be in front of the Xstrata Entertainment Centre on the lawn, but it will be first in best seated.
"General admission tickets can be purchased at the gate."
