Normanton police have arrested and charged a 21-year-old local man with the alleged theft of an antique and inoperable firearm.

Police said the antique shotgun was stolen during a break-in at a Normanton residence sometime between March 24 and 29.
On Sunday, April 11, police attended a Balonne Street address on information received from members of the community and located the shotgun hidden between two mattresses.
At about noon Sunday police attended a Palmer Street address where they located and arrested the 21-year-old, after he tried to flee by running into a neighbouring yard.
A 21-year-old Normanton man has been charged with two counts of enter premises and commit indicatable offence by break and one count of obstruct police officer.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to re-appear in the Normanton Magistrates Court on April 15.
