A headless figure in blue, a sitting person in red and a green figure with a brolly are, collectively, the "Three Well Known Australians" currently at the Outback at Isa gallery.
It is the work of Sydney artist Martin Shaw and it has been touring the country continuously since 1983.
The public have to guess who the 'Three Australians' are in the painting and record their opinions into yearbooks which Mr Shaw said form a portrait of Australia.
The Mount Isa yearbook contain guesses such as "Kerry Packer, Deb Mailman and Greg Norman" and "Ned Kelly, Cathy Freeman and Mary Poppins".
Mr Shaw won't reveal the answer to the identity of the trio but said there were clues in the painting.
Included with touring exhibition are 240 letters with opinions on the "three Australians" over the years.
The exhibition is free and open until April 23.
