Today is Mailman Express Day, returning for the first time since 2019, which means the Buchanan Park track will get quite a workout today with all tickets for the event sold out.
Firstly there is a seven-race card for thoroughbreds with the feature race being Race 5 the CNW Coppermart Open Plate over 1000m for a $20,000 prize pool and featuring great local horses including Tango Rain and Wicked Wiki.
This will be a TAB meeting.
Then when the dust settles and the sun goes down it's time for the famous Mailman races, named for local legend Wally Mailman.
Twenty non-thoroughbred horses will run 200m against the clock with the ten fastest qualifying for the final.
There will be a Calcutta before the final with the fastest horse in the final winning the night.
There will also be entertainment from Bareback on the night.
Gates open at 11am with first race at 1.35pm.
First Mailman trial is at 7pm.
