The Indigenous Hip Hop Projects team is in Mount Isa for National Youth Week teaching a dance, music, film, art and culture one-week intensive course for the Deadly Styles event today. Deadly Styles will be held at the skate park next to the Mount Isa pool from 6pm.
There will be a little bit for all youths with a free community barbecue, Indigenous Hip Hop Projects dance performances and youths performing hip hop routines followed by a disco and dance battle.
Headspace youth and community engagement worker Emily Brodie said a short film would be shown on the night.
“The short documentary will feature local youth and their family yarning about their community and the effects of racism, drugs and alcohol, and stress and anxiety on culture, identity and their relationships,” she said.
