The tribute show returns to Australia by popular demand after a previous show toured regional and capital cities in 2014.
Authorised by Harold Thau, John Denver's long-time personal manager and friend, the John Denver tribute show will be a representation of Denver and his music.
Singer and musician, Bevan Gardiner, performs John Denver’s music and is passionate about what he does, having been a fan of the famous singer since he was seven years old.
Inspired by Denver’s music he decided he wanted to sing and play just like his idol. Now having been a fan of Denver for more than 20 years, he now performs John Denver’s music in the tribute shows.
“We are travelling Australia again to honour his life and his music, for people to relate and listen too,” Mr Gardiner said.
“We have a band of musicians and we perform all his songs live while a big screen with audio visual of Denver plays behind us.
“He talks about the ups and downs of his life and tell the audience the inspiration for his songs. So it is like having Denver on the stage while we perform his songs.”
First time visiting Mount Isa, Mr Gardiner said the tribute group were looking forward to travelling to other parts of Australia and touring to places they haven’t been before.
“Mount Isa is the second last stop on our tour and we wanted to branch out to other areas to see what their reaction to the performance is,” he said.
“I think some people look at the title and think it is just another tribute show, well it is more than that. The performance has a documentary feel and people who have come and seen the show have been taken on an emotional roller coaster ride experiencing Denver’s journey.
“Everyone leaves feeling very moved. I have had people come up to me and say ‘we had that song at our wedding’ or it took me back to a specific time and people feel elated and that is rewarding for us.
“It is more than just a tribute concert and we encourage the locals of Mount Isa to come and experience this journey and performance of John Denver’s life.”
