Well known contemporary Indigenous artist Chern’ee Sutton has had an amazing year in art, designing NRL uniforms, Commonwealth Games mascots, and even her own chocolate range.

Ms Sutton has her roots firmly set in the north west, descending from the Kalkadoon people of Mount Isa.
In 2016 Ms Sutton participated in a number of artist residencies around Australia, and was asked to design the NRL Indigenous All Stars jerseys and merchandise.
“It was a highlight to see the men’s and women’s Indigenous All Stars running out onto the field wearing my designs,” Ms Sutton said.
Ms Sutton also played a role in designing the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Mascot Borobi, and attended the official launch at Burleigh Heads Beach.
Borobi the Koala has Indigenous art elements on his hands, feet and surfboard, all designed by Ms Sutton.
“It was great to see all of the elements come together and to see my designs taking pride of place on Borobi’s hands and feet,” Ms Sutton said.
The 19-year-old artist was a key note speaker at the Queensland Tourism Industry Councils ‘Tourism Indigenous Employment Forum’ in Brisbane.
Sweeter still, her popular designs can now be purchased via Chern’ee Sutton Originals chocolate range, launched late last year.
Her art will be on the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Forerunners t-shirts and NRL’s 2017 Indigenous All Stars jerseys.
