“We really appreciate they are getting things cranked up really well,” Cr Wharton said.
“We’re going to do a few things...we have five or six projects that are going to be a benefit for the town.”
One of the key projects would be the construction of a new club house for the tennis courts. But the water park at the lake would also receive upgrades. The government’s Works for Queensland funding had to be spent by November.
Cr Wharton said the funding did increase jobs. The money not budgeted by local councils was a boost for contractors or for more council staff.
“Once employed a while they end up long term employees,” Cr Wharton said.
But he said the projects also improved the town’s liveability and attractiveness.
