Solo youth and pairs are welcome in the kitchen from 10am-2pm at the Mount Isa Youth Shelter, 60 Spence Street.
Senior Case Manager Aaron Quilty said it's designed like My Kitchen Rules, with the back deck ‘decked out’ for a sit down meal.
Registrations are still open for 12 to 25 year olds at shelter1@ypa-isa.com.au.
All ingredients will be provided, BYO creativity.
The cook off is organised by YPA staff and is just one of their events for National Youth Week which ends on Sunday.
“It’s tied in with the youth week theme of ‘be brave, be bold, be you’, so it doesn’t matter if you can’t cook, just come down, be brave and have a bit of fun,” Mr Quilty said.
“Cook up some nachos, or cook up a storm with eggs or whatever you want,” he said.
Those who are taking part in eating rather than cooking will have a score sheet to judge each meal by.
On Wednesday April 5 YPA is also holding a sleep out to raise awareness for youth homelessness
The sleep out begins at 5pm at YPA headquarters, 11-13 Fourth Avenue, Mount Isa.
