The festival, which runs over two days, includes the annual teams sprint distance Mount Isa City Council Corporate Triathlon on Saturday afternoon, with diehard triathletes backing up the following morning for race #1 of the Race to the Creek series, the Mount Isa Mines “Moondarra Dash”.
There were 36 teams registered for the Corporate Triathlon with registrations closing February 14 for all events.
Saturday evening will be a chance for athletes and their supporters to let their hair down with a barbecue and beer provided by Paws Hoofs and Claws and music put on by The Shack.
Race Director Richard Norris said the festival has something for everyone.
For the competitive athletes there’s cash prizes in the team event and points up for grabs in the Nissan State Series
- Richard Norris
“For competitive athletes there’s cash prizes in the team event and points for grabs in the Nissan State Series, for those new to the sport, it’s a great way to get a taste for triathlon in the lead up to DirtnDust,” Mr Norris said. “For spectators, there’s cold drinks for the adults and a jumping castle for the kids.”
There’s also kids races Saturday morning from Splashez Pool. Registrations on the day. For enquiries contact publicity officer Bonnie Collins: 0421805655 or isarats@gmail.com
