E-coli traces of were found in the water early February forcing Council to issue the alert.
Cr Paul Stretton told the Council meeting on Wednesday it was a concern.
CEO Sharon Ibardolaza told the meeting chlorine levels in the system were below the regulated level.
Ms Ibardolaza said they needed two clear days of good testing results before they could revoke the alert but it was difficult to isolate the cause.
She said an expert was heading to Camooweal on Friday to investigate further and she urged patience while they continued to investigate the cause.
Council is advising residents to bring water to a rolling boil then allow it to cool in a clean container with a lid in the fridge before using for drinking, cooking, washing raw food, making ice, pet’s water or brushing teeth.
