Volunteers can help in a variety of ways within the shops and no experience is required as Vinnies provides on the job training and support.
Roles include assisting customers, sorting of donations as well as pricing and display of items.
Vinnies is flexible in terms of days and times volunteers can work and working in a store is a great way for volunteers to give back to their local community while also learning new skills and meeting new people.
St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland Townsville Diocese Executive Officer Buffy Charles encouraged local residents to help the charity continue its good work in the community through volunteering.
“If you’re considering a way to give back to the community, please consider volunteering at Vinnies. Volunteers are welcome to give just a few hours or days per week,” Ms Charles said.
“We need people to help us so we can continue to help those who are doing it tough.
“We offer a fun and friendly team environment where you can be yourself while helping your local community,” she said.
Mount Isa is part of Vinnies Townsville Diocese which supported 26,755 people in 2017.
In the same year Vinnies assisted 306,831 Queenslanders and provided $191 million in services and support to people in need.
A police check which is paid for by Vinnies is required for all volunteers.
