Following shows in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne, Angela Lumicisi is bringing her show ‘We’ve Only Just Begun – Music of the Carpenters’ to Mount Isa.
“This is my first time to Mount Isa and I’m excited for the trip and to perform the show,” Lumicisi said.
“The audience can expect at least 19 of their favorite Carpenters songs.”
The performance is not your typical concert.
Lumicisi weaves the music of Karen and Richard Carpenter into a storyline about her own life and adoration for the band.
“I started listening to their music when I was 14,” Lumicisi said.
“I was shopping in Target and heard the most amazing voice come over the loud speaker, I ran up to the counter to find out who it was and they told me it was best of The Carpenters cassette.
“I listened to them religiously after that,” she said.
The singer said the performance is about a girl growing up in the 70s with strict Italian parents who connects with Karen Carpenter through music.
Lumicisi will perform three shows in Mount Isa, first at the council’s morning melodies event for seniors and disability card holders on Friday at 10am, before a midday performance for residents of Laura Johnson Home.
The general public can head along to the final show at the Civic Centre on Friday night at 7:30pm.
We’ve Only Just Begun: The Music of The Carpenters is the only show of its kind in Australia, which celebrates the timeless music of this iconic band.
It allows audiences to relive their memories as well as bringing this music to a whole new set of Carpenters fans.
Even those who have never heard of The Carpenters know one or more of their songs, and this intimate, niche exploration of everything “Carpentererian” allows the audience to be transported to a time when hope, happiness and harmony defined an era.
Tickets are $35 for adults and $15 for children, available at the Mount Isa Civic Centre.
