Savills’ marketing agents Leon Alaban and Christian Tsalikis are singing the praises of the local watering hole as they search for a new buyer.
Mr Tsalikis said the Barkly attracts repeat business from locals as well as visitors to the area, due to its location.
“The hotel strikes an imposing presence and is well positioned to service one of the most productive mines in the country, whilst being only minutes from the airport,” Mr Tsalikis said.
The Hotel features a public bar, sports bar, bistro, gaming room, and drive through bottle shop, plus a gym that is leased to a third party.
Mr Alaban said Mount Isa is a strong regional centre with limited competition in the area.
“Venues such as the Barkly Hotel have traditionally been tightly held,” Mr Alaban said.
This asset provides an incoming purchaser the ability to acquire a substantial property with significant cash flow.”
Mr Tsalikis claimed Mount Isa’s population is expected to almost double from 22,000 to 40,000 in the next 10 to 20 years.
“The Barkly Hotel Motel has the land size and facilities to capture a portion of the trade gained by the expected population growth.”
