Mount Isa’s Officer in Charge Sen Sgt Renee Hanrahan received the Australian Police Medal for her dedication to general duties policing and her success and effectiveness in working in partnership with community groups to achieve positive outcomes.
The Governor of Queensland, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC presented her with the medal at an investiture ceremony in Cairns this month.
“When the Governor is pinning the medal on, he says a few quiet words to each recipient and I found him very sincere as he personalised each one,” Sen Sgt Hanrahan said.
“He was very insightful when he recognised being a role model to young women must be large part of my role.
“I was very pleased to respond it was one of my greatest honours.”
Qld police minister Mark Ryan said Sen. Sgt Hanrahan was a capable leader who has displayed commitment, skill and excellence in working with our community.
