The guns fell silent on the “eleventh hour of the eleventh month” and services will mark the fact at 11am next Sunday.
At Mount Isa Cenotaph commemorations start at 10am with “Voices of Remembrance” a moving musical tribute to the end of the war performed by the Mount Isa Community Ensemble choir.
Mount Isa’s service starts at 10.30am at the Cenotaph with a big crowd expected to turn up for both events.
Cloncurry is holding its Remembrance Day commemoration on November 11 at Cenotaph from 10.40am. It will be followed by lunch at the RSL (Bowls Club) with afternoon bowls at 5pm. All members of the public welcome.
Julia Creek RSL and McKinlay Council will be host Remembrance Day service from 10:30am at the RSL grounds.
A commemorative tribute will be unveiled at the service, followed by a light lunch provided by the Julia Creek Lions Ladies.
In Carpentaria shire meet at 10.30am at the Normanton Cenotaph or Karumba Sunderland Park.
Both services will be followed by a barbecue lunch at Normanton Shire Hall and Karumba Rec Club.
In Boulia, people are asked to assemble at the Cenotaph from 10.30am with light refreshments at the library area after the service.
Richmond’s service begins at 10.45am at Jack Brown Lions Park cenotaph.
The Burketown event starts at the Visitor Information Centre 10.45am.
