Both towns are close to the QLD/NT border and come to each others aid whenever needed, however, when it comes to cricket it's all about winning.
A police spokesperson said this years battle will be two-fold, with officers competing for not only the trophy but also for bragging rights for who can raise the most money.
"Whilst this is all a lot of fun, the event is also about raising funds for the Royal Flying Doctors Service which is an essential lifeline for outback communities," the spokesperson said.
On Saturday July 20, the game will be held in Avon Downs on a challenging outback cricket ground with no green grass.
The surrounding cattle stations have provided players to help both sides make up their team numbers.
Last year the Camooweal Police, nicknamed the Border Rangers, took home the trophy and showed Avon Downs Police who the kings of outback cricket were.
