In a video released by his office, the Governor-General said he was impressed by the spirit of the towns which he visited in mid July, just months after they were hard hit by floods.
"Today they are on a path to recovery though plenty of hard work lies ahead," the Governor-General said in the video.
"We met people who in the face of adversity, came together, helped each other and committed to rebuilding."
The video featured moments from his visit to the Stockman's Challenge in Cloncurry and the hospital in Julia Creek.
