The annual festival, organised by the Good Shepherd Catholic Parish is an opportunity for Mount Isa to celebrate its diversity and promote community engagement.
Festival advocate Tony McGrady said the event helped promote Mount Isa's multiculturalism.
"Mount Isa remarkably has people from 52 nations living and working here," Mr McGrady said.
"This festival is about a celebration of the people who have chosen to move to Mount Isa."
Mr McGrady said he had seen Mount Isa change in front of his eyes.
"Things have changed a lot over the years, I remember throughout the eighties the majority of immigrants were Philippine, now it is mostly New Zealanders, Indian and people from the African continent," he said.
"Last years Christmas mass was even an Indian family playing the roles of Jesus and Mary, which made me think how far we have come."
Father Mick Lowcock said he was wearing a green shirt for good reason.
"Each year we have a different theme, last year it was the Finish contribution to the community and this year we are celebrating the Irish contribution to the community," Father Mick said.
Nigerian Bessie Mary who arrived with her grandchildren five months ago said that she was enjoying her big move.
"I love it here and so do the boys," Ms Mary said.
Grandchild Chidudem Ezeah said he liked how there wasn't too many people in Mount Isa.
"The thing I like about Mount Isa is it's a small community so it is easy to get to know everyone and make friends," Chidudem said.
The Multicultural Festival will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Stanley Street, from 6-10pm.
