The Queensland Core Skills Test is a statewide test completed by all Queensland year twelve students who are eligible for an Overall Position (OP) and is optional for tertiary rank students.
Current students under the core skills examination will still have their results used to gain entrance into tertiary degrees and courses.
Acting assistant principal of Good Shepherd Catholic college Samantha Kelly said her students had been hard at work all year.
"Our students have been preparing with specialised classes which target the skills that they need in the QCS test, focusing on literacy and numeracy," Ms Kelly said.
"We also did a full day block where we had people of expertise come from all over the region.
"There were 12 students sitting it today and they were in high spirits and even though this is the last one it is still very important."
QCS testing started in 1992 and will change to the nation-wide Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).
