At around 5.15pm on Friday, October 25, it is alleged a group of men were drinking alcohol in the river bed at Burke Street, when one man became agitated about a comment made by others.
The man allegedly presented a large kitchen knife and threatened the other men, lunging towards each of them with the knife pointed in their direction.
It is further alleged that the men began to throw rocks in an attempt to keep the man at a distance with one striking him in the eye.
The man then left towards the hospital, leaving the knife on the corner of Camooweal and Dora Streets.
Police located and seized the knife a short time later.
As a result, a 23-year-old Mornington man has been charged with three counts of going armed so as to cause fear.
He will appear in the Mount Isa Magistrates Court on November 18.
