Mount Isa is experiencing hot and dry conditions throughout the month of December, with temperatures peaking into the 40s.

Hot and dry conditions are not uncommon for Mount Isa during this time of year, however on December 26, Mount Isa reached 21 consecutive days over 40 degrees.
The count started on Friday December 6 when Mount Isa reached 41.3 degrees, but is not expected to beat Cloncurry's record of 33 days.
Mount Isa's streak of 40 degree heat is expected to finish on Friday December 27 with the Bureau of Meteorology only predicting a maximum temperature of 38 degrees.
Cloncurry has currently totalled 22 consecutive days over 40 but is also expected to end on Friday.
However Camooweal is expected to continue its 22 day streak until Saturday.
These conditions are expected to discontinue due to showers and thunderstorms around the region.
Today, Mount Isa and Cloncurry's forecast predicts a medium (40pc) chance of showers during the afternoon and evening. Camooweal is also expected to receive a medium (50pc) chance of showers.
More rain is predicted in the next two weeks according to weather forecasters with up to 50mm falling in some parts of North West Queensland.
The monsoon is predicted to be in full effect by mid-January.
