A total of 217,803 passengers passed through the gates of Mount Isa Airport in 2019, up from 199,366 in 2018 representing 9.25 per cent growth.
December was particularly strong, with 17,439 passengers passing through the gates during the Christmas period - representing 17.6 per cent growth on December 2018.
Queensland Airports Limited Chief Executive Officer Chris Mills said Mount Isa Airport was a stand-out performer for the QAL group, which also owns and operates Gold Coast, Townsville and Longreach airports.
"The past year was a big one for Mount Isa Airport, driven by activity in the resources sector," Mr Mills said.
"The 17.6 per cent growth in passenger numbers in December was the strongest growth rate for the airport in five years."
Passenger figures have risen for 22 of the past 24 months at Mount Isa Airport.
Other highlights of the year included the achievement of Level 2 carbon accreditation with the Airports Council International - recognition of the airport's reduction in carbon footprint.
