A man has faced has been extradited to face charges relating to a Doomadgee council investigation.

On Thursday, February 27 a 59-year-old man from Lake Clifton, Western Australia, appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court to face fraud, forgery and stealing offences as a result of an ongoing Crime and Corruption Commission investigation into allegations of corrupt conduct at Doomadgee Aboriginal Shire Council.
In February, the CCC issued an arrest warrant for the 59-year-old man.
On Monday 24 February 2020, he was arrested by police in Western Australia.
CCC officers travelled to Perth and successfully applied to a Perth court to extradite the man back to Queensland to face the offences. He was remanded in custody in Perth and remained in custody until yesterday's court appearance in Brisbane.
The man was formally charged by the CCC when he returned to Queensland on 27 February 2020 with Fraud contrary to section 408C(1)(a) of the Criminal Code, four counts of Forgery contrary to section 488(1)(a) of the Criminal Code and one count of Stealing as a Servant contrary to section 398.6 of the Criminal Code.
Following Thursday's court appearance, the man was bailed and is expected to reappear in the Mount Isa Magistrates Court on March 18.
In 2018 the troubled Doomadgee council suspended its CEO after local traditional owners have reported a host of allegations to Local Government Minister Stirling Hinchliffe.while former sacked mayor Edric Walden also faced corruption charges.
