The Mount Isa representative rugby league side travelled 15 hours by bus on Friday March 6 led by captain Dylan Buckingham and coach John Doyle.
Mount Isa started strong surprising the home side to be up by six within the first few minutes of the game.
But the Roosters didn't take long to find their groove and scored a number of tries through some speedy backs who proved hard to handle out wide.
Mount Isa captain Dylan Buckingham said it was a huge credit to the boys.
"We dug deep for the entire 80 minutes and managed to cross the line for the last try of the game," Buckingham said.
"Big thanks to Sean Wade for organising, driving the bus and managing the team and Rob Katter for running the water and sponsoring the event.
"We look forward to hosting the Roosters next year for a pre-season trial in Mount Isa."
MP member for Traeger Robbie Katter said the entire weekend was superb.
"We were excited to support it as a contest between the two towns with myself and KAP Member for Hill Shane Knuth who had a big background in rugby league," Mr Katter said.
"There was a huge crowd at the game and the town really embraced us being there, we hope this cup continues for many years to come."
The Mount Isa representative side will now take a large break until the Outback Muster in Mitchell later in the year.
