The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a fatal two vehicle crash that occurred in Mount Isa Sunday night.

Preliminary information suggests a ute was travelling northbound on Simpson Street near the corner of the highway when it collided with a station wagon travelling in the opposite direction around 8.20pm.
One of the passengers in the station wagon, a 53-year-old Mount Isa woman, became entrapped in the vehicle and suffered serious injuries.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 20-year-old male driver of the ute and his female passenger were not seriously injured however transported to hospital for observation.
The 32-year-old female driver of the station wagon and a male passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Mount Isa Base Hospital.
Investigations are continuing.
