Brock Philip received Rising Star in the Under 13s, picked for the U13s Queensland Team, was shadow for the U15s squad, and now this year has sealed his place in the U15s Queensland squad.
He said he was surprised to be selected for the team this year.
"It was a bit of a shock because I haven't played in a state championship for a while, so I didn't think that I would get selected," Brock said.
Brock is the only Mount Isa, North West Queensland and Outback Queensland representative selected in both Queensland squads, with 99 percent of his team members from the east coast.
"Coming from Mount Isa can put me at a bit of a disadvantage because we don't play on turf, we play on grass. Although I have played on turf before when I have travelled away for other rep games.
"Playing on grass can also be a positive too because not many people on the coast play on grass either."
Brock said leading up the the Australian U15 National Championships he would focus on his training.
"I need to work on getting back to basics," he said.
"If you're good at the basics then you have a fundamental for everything.
"I hadn't been training as much because of COVID-19 but have started to pick it up again now."
Brock will join is team members at the Australian U15s National Championships in Bathurst, New South Wales in April 2021; and hoped the competition would continue his dream to one day play for the Kookaburras.
"I would love to have a career in hockey, my goal is to play make the Kookaburras when I am older," he said.
"But at the moment it is just something on the side that I get to have a bit of fun with as well. I believe if you don't enjoy it you lose that drive and you won't go as far."
