To celebrate the Sri Lankan Buddhist festival of Vesak, the local community in Mount Isa are putting on a delicious 'Vesak' fundraiser on Sunday 23 May 2021, with all funds raised going to The Mount Isa Special School for infrastructure upgrades.
The community say they have been fortunate in their lives in Mount Isa and this is a bit like a case of 'paying it forward' by the Sri Lankan families and individuals who call Mount Isa home.
Members of the Sri Lankan community will be at the carpark opposite the Ibis Styles Hotel (corner Camooweal St and Rodeo Drive) from 11am on Sunday and will be there until they sell out of food.
There will be rice and curry packs with authentic Sri Lanka flavours for just $15 and you can pre-order lunch packs in chicken, beef or vegetarian by contacting Anusha on 0426 613 021 with pick-up on the day between 11am and noon.
Cost $15 per pack of rice and curry.
