Eighth slowest into the final Eyesa Fast and Fancy sold for just $600 in the pre-race Calcutta, one tenth the price of fastest qualifier Jabelle Aint She Fancy, but the two fancies were the two fastest in the final separated by just 0.02 second over the 200 metres distance.
Third was second-fastest qualifier Katy Perry an agonisingly-close 0.01 seconds back in a time of 12.05.
Victorian jockey Trish Johnson said the eight-year-old mare Eyesa Fast and Fancy ran a beautiful race to win the Mailman
"She's actually a barrel racing horse," Johnson said.
"I'll give her a break tomorrow to cool down but we'll look at riding (in the rodeo) on Saturday."
It's a trip down memory lane for Johnson who won the Mailman in its first race in 2002.
A capacity crowd of 4000 people attended the event.
