UGL and CPB contractors and CopperString representatives were on hand to discuss potential business opportunities from the project, which will connect the North West Minerals Province and the National Electricity Market near Townsville.
The industry event was co-hosted by CuString and Mount Isa to Townsville Economic Development Zone (MITEZ) with regional suppliers learning more about the opportunities they could pursue from the massive construction program.

Work on the transmission network will include civil construction, batch plants, clearing and rehabilitation, access track construction, foundation concrete and reinforcing, tower assembly, optical ground wire, overhead earth wire, land access, cultural heritage, environmental services, testing and commissioning services and camp construction and camp services.
CuString Executive Chairman John O'Brien said the briefing by the project's early contractor involvement partner, the UGL/CPB Joint Venture, follows the approval of CopperString 2.0's Australian Industry Participation Plan.

"CopperString 2.0 is a nation-building project to electrify more investment, jobs and development of the globally-significant reserves of critical minerals in the North West, worth an estimated $740 billion," Mr O'Brien said.
MITEZ CEO Catherine Robson said CuString was committed to ensuring the people involved in the construction and operations of the CopperString transmission network and local communities were beneficiaries of the project.
"That's through economic benefits but also through quality employment opportunities, locally focused procurement, supplier development and a proactive role as a catalyst in the local economy," Ms Robson said.
