It was Ms Fairleigh’s fourth visit to Cloncurry, and she was pleased to share Australia Day with the community.
She said her professional focus was on mental health, especially in rural areas, along with suicide prevention in farming communities.
“These last couple of years have been really brutal for our farmers, with the drought,” she said.
“My aim is to decrease the stigma of mental health in our farming communities and empower rural communities to address the issue of suicide prevention.”
Ms Ker, who has built a hub of inclusion for migrants, refugees and other people needing a helping hand, said it was her first time in Cloncurry.
“I love it. I feel like a part of the community even though it’s my first time in the community,” she said.
