Mount Isa City Council hosted the morning tea, which included representatives from a number of different faiths who came together to extend their best wishes to Mrs Handley, who dedicated the last 15 years to her calling as a priest with the Anglican Church.
She was the organiser of the ‘Prayers for Rain’ held each year at the Civic Centre; a prayer which more recently has been heard and answered, bringing our city relief from devastating drought.
Mayor Tony McGrady thanked Mrs Handley on behalf of Mount Isa City Council for her positive contribution to our community over her 52 years as a resident.
He paid particular tribute to her work for the community in her position as a priest.
