The three-year Glencore Tim Underhill Diversity Scholarship is for a female student intending on studying mine surveying.
It is posthumously named after Australian Institute of Mine Surveyors (AIMS) member Timothy Reginald Underhill, who held a senior surveying position at Mount Isa Mines before his death in 2014.
AIMS board member Julia Reynolds said that the mining industry has historically shown under-representation of women.
“Particularly in on-site occupations such as mine surveying,” she said.
