Better known as BoB, the Musica Viva In Schools group Best of Brass is heading west with guitarist and vocalist, Dave Stuart.
Thanks to the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation, they’ll give 32 performances in regional schools and hold over 50 workshops with student, teacher and community groups with free community Concerts in Longreach and Nelia.
There’s nothing like the sound of brass instruments to get you to sit up and take notice, especially in the hands of Nathan Schilling, Danny Dielkens, Armin Terzer, Jamie Kennedy and Greg Aitken or Warwick Tyrrell from Best of Brass.
With trumpets, trombones and a French horn, BoB play music from across the world: tango, Australian waltzes, classical masters and Kazakh folk tunes.
They’re also experts at explaining where the strange, bendy metal tubes they play come from, and how they work.
They tour 31 schools including Winton, Julia Creek, Cloncurry, Camooweal and Mount Isa and there is a free community concert in Nelia on November 1.
Nelia CWA Hall Doors open from 5.30pm, nibbles at 6pm, concert at 6.30pm, dinner at 7.30pm. Bar available
