Heavy rainfall, which may lead to localised flash flooding, is expected to develop over inland parts of northwestern Queensland overnight Thursday and through Friday.
Thunderstorms are also expected, and rainfall will be particularly heavy with this activity.
Six-hourly rainfall totals of 75 to 125mm are possible, with locally higher totals with bands of thunderstorms.
Locations which may be affected include Camooweal, Mount Isa, Cloncurry, Julia Creek and Urandangi.
There are already major flood warnings in place for the Flinders River and an initial flood warning for the Diamantina.
There are many road closures in the area including the Cloncurry-Dajarra Rd (water over road at Duck Creek, Slatey Creek and Malbon River), the Flinders Hwy between Julia Creek and Richmond, the Landsborough Highway between Cloncurry and McKinlay, the Julia Creek / Kynuna Rd, the Boulia-Winton Rd, the Corfield-Richmond Rd.
Check https://qldtraffic.qld.gov.au/ for a full list of all road closures and remember “if it is flooded, forget it”.
