Mount Isa Water Board CEO Steve Farrelly told two dozen local business representatives about their community amenity plans for the Lake reserve.
"We're having conversations with Council and Telstra on decent phone coverage at the lake and we are trying to get that to happen," Mr Farrelly said.
"We are also in the early stages of planning new shelters at Black Rock Park between the two boat ramps.
"We realise many of the trees there have run their course and we have a tree-planting program in conjunction with Rotary and the Council coming together."
Mr Farrelly said the new road around the lake was a big investment representing two years of expenditure but the old one was unmaintainable.
"We are delighted everyone is excited about the new road, it's a great asset," he said.
"Mount Isa City Council have done a fantastic job, especially with the engineering - they got it exactly right because it survived the wet we had without blinking."
Mr Farrelly said the project was not finished.
"We knew that after the wet we'd have to go out and work out where the water wanted to go and do drainage work to stabilise everything and it looks like we'll have to do a bit of improvement on the first culvert but really happy with the outcome."
Commerce North West president Travis Crowther said Lake Moondarra was a great asset to Mount Isa.
"It's an awesome body of water so close where you can drop your boat in and go out, ski off it or fish and make the most within 20 minutes of town," Mr Crowther said.
North West Tours took guests out in their airport and tourism shuttle buses.
North West Tours's Phil Cochrane said they were passionate about promoting tourism to locals and tourists alike and offered three tours: the two hour City Tour, the three hour Mary Kathleen township and mine tour and the Lake Moondarra sunset tour.
