Barely two months after Julia Creek was devastated by the floods that swept through north west Queensland, about 3000 visitors from all corners of the country showed up for the 25th annual Dirt and Dust Festival.
The festival kicked off on Friday with the junior triathlon, bog snorkeling and pig races.
Saturday saw action aplenty with the grueling Julia Creek senior triathlon first thing on Saturday morning which saw Jye Spriggs win the event and Mount Isa's Kim Alcorn take out the women's section.
The inaugural Lorna Jane Adventure Trail Run also took place with many winners across the 5.5, 11 and 16 kilometre runs. This was followed by punters getting dressed up for an afternoon of horse racing and the Country Tastes Luncheon at the Julia Creek Turf Club.
In the evening, everyone moved to Dirt n Dust Central for the thrills and spills of the Professional Bull Ride which saw Will Purcell take the champion title.
This was followed by live entertainment from Hurricane Fall and the infamous Australia's Best Butt Competition which saw Lee Carseldine and Maddie Beavis crowned but not without a wardrobe malfunction.
2019 saw the festival extended to Sunday with the Show and Shine and Car Show featuring some old-school classics.
