Some of you would have watched my live Facebook interview with Bob Katter on Thursday.

The interview got a bit feisty at times, a fact I don't apologise for, that's our job to ask difficult questions of politicians, whether they like the questions or not.
However I do owe Bob Katter an apology on one matter arising.
During the interview I asked Mr Katter for his opinion on the North West Queensland mayors' Six Point Plan to improve transport, services and telecommunications.
Mr Katter asked me did that include Hughenden, and I responded no, it did not.
Despite my answer Mr Katter proceeded to talk about the improvements to the Hann Hwy around Hughenden, and I cut him off saying it was not relevant.
I was wrong to do so.
I had forgotten that Hughenden (ie the Flinders Shire), is indeed a member of the North West Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils that put out the Six Point Plan and as such Mr Katter was perfectly entitled to discuss the Hann Hwy in response to my question.
I apologise unreservedly to Mr Katter for my mistake, and indeed to the people of Flinders Shire who would have been interested in his answer.
The progressive sealing of that road is important not only for the beef industry of Northern Queensland but to provide an alternative access from Cairns to the south for tourists and in times of Bruce Hwy flooding and I grant that Mr Katter is a strong advocate for that outcome.

And speaking of the election that Mr Katter is campaigning for, I notice that the election day, next Saturday May 18 coincides with the much anticipated Legends of League game here in Mount Isa.
Indeed Mr Katter's son Robbie will be lacing up the boots for the Mount Isa selection which takes on the Legends team at 7pm at Alec Inch Oval.
One assumes Mr Katter (junior) will be looking for a double celebration when the game ends, with an Isa victory masterminded by the coaching Daisy brothers to go with his dad's likely tenth return to office in the seat of Kennedy. I'll do my best to cover both events for the Star - Derek Barry
