In arguably the most heated game all year, Young Guns came out of the sheds ready to capitalise on the Buffs' multiple player unavailability due to the Quamby rodeo.
They did so in fine fashion taking an early two goal lead and remained in front throughout the match. It was Young Guns' stamina that proved the difference with more touches and more accurate clearances. Ultimately, their new jerseys have continued to inspire the team.
Buffs coach Charlie Johnston said although they lost, he was still really proud of his team mates.
"I thought it was a very tough game, there were some huge hits but full credit to Lake Nash, they ran really well and that is where they got us in the end, " Johnston said.
"We had three blokes come out of retirement and about ten players out due to Quamby Rodeo.
"It's our first loss of the year so hopefully it is just what we need and we can all get down to training and get ready for the finals" he said.
This week Buffs take on Rovers at 12:30pm and Rhinos vs Tigers at 2:30pm.
