A second fundraiser was held for young Kaiya-Gene Kerekere in as many days at Blackwoods on Thursday August 1 after initial funds were raised last Saturday at the Mount Isa Rugby Union Grounds.
Twelve months ago the 15-year-old boy was diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma, a rare disease that affects soft tissue which connects, supports and surrounds the bones and organs of the body.
Operations manager of Blackwoods Mount Isa Lee Potini said it was important to help one another in desperate situations.
"Part of the Blackwoods way is social connection, and that is something my team and I are really strong on," Ms Potini said.
"We heard of Kaiya-Gene Kerekere being diagnosed with stage four cancer and we saw it as an opportunity to get out there, push ourselves and raise funds."
If you would like to donate to help out Kaiya, call Wairita on 0434 027 619 or check out the GoFundMe page.
